Basketball Time is here!!!

Looking for H.S. Boys AND Girls!!!

We have a very SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

This year we have a new coach for the H.S. boys, Coach James Parlow. He played for Carver H.S. in New Orleans and then went on to play collegiate basketball at UNO. He enjoyed a very successful college career and still holds multiple records for 3 point shots at UNO. He also played professional basketball in Latin America for the last few years. Currently, he is employed at Cross Gates Athletic Club and is completing his college degree so he can pursue a full time coaching position. He also has a nonprofit organization, Elevate USA, which allows him to work with inner city kids. He will be coaching an exciting, up tempo type of basketball. Coach Parlow’s responsibilities will include designing and running our practices and, as long his schedule permits, coaching our games. Gary LaFollette and I will still be the head coaches, but James will be running the practices and games. Much like last year, we are planning on having separate JV and Varsity games but the practices will be held jointly.

So come, boys and girls. We will have sign ups Friday 9/16 beginning at 3:00pm until 4:45pm @ Northshore Sportsplex (278 General Patton Ave, Ste. 500, Mandeville). All paperwork and monies are due by October 1^st. Our first practice will be on Saturday, 9/17@ Cross Gates Athletic Club from 8-10am. We will be introducing Coach James to the boys and having an intra squad scrimmage. Our regular season practice schedule will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 2pm until 4pm at Cross Gates gym. Saturday practice will be held at either Cross Gates, 6^th Ward, or First Baptist-Slidell, depending on FB-Slidell schedule.

Business side of things:

We will need Birth Certificates, Basketball registration form, Physicals, and Volunteer form by Oct 1^st. Please get them in as soon as possible.

Registration fee is $130 (unless you participated in Cross Country this year, then the fee is                                            $100).

If you have a gmail account you can request to get the calendar too. Even if you don’t have a gmail account, you can register with Google calendar using your existing email account and still get access to our calendar.

Dear All,

It is that time again.  Time to start talking about basketball.  We will be having sign ups on 9/16 at the Northshore Sportsplex from 3-4:45.  I would like for you to see what we are trying to build here with SCHEF.  The 5th-8th graders will be there practicing.  (If you are 14 and under on 9/1 please consider playing 7/8th grade basketball).  We will start practicing as of right now Mondays and Thursdays at First Baptist starting 9/19.  We will have a 3rd weekly practice time figured out by that time.  All fees and paperwork are due by 10/1.

This will be an interesting year this year.  They have changed our scheduling so we schedule November and December and LCSAA schedules January.  This has thrown a little loop in my scheduling so I am trying to find some games for Nov-Dec.  I am trying to move our traveling to Friday’s and Saturdays as much as possible.  If you have any contacts at some local schools please let me know or get the ball rolling for me.

New for this year!!! we are joining Fellowship of Christian Athletes!!!  If you have experience doing FCA please let us know.

Needs for this year.  We need a Team Manager!!!, If you have a 15 passenger or bigger van that we can travel in (we will help with gas),  Stats person I have an app for that, Please fill out the volunteer form to let us know how you can help. See our Basketball page for the forms.

So now if you want to be “On the Cutting Edge” we will see you on Thursday, August 4, from 3:30 – 5:00 at Koop Drive Park in Mandeville and you can JOIN THE FUN ! ! ! ! !

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to remind you all of the CROSS COUNTRY CAMP taking place tomorrow morning at Koop Drive in Mandeville (right off of I-12 on Hwy 59) from 8:30 to 11:00am. We will have an information session for the first hour and work-out from 9:30-11:00. You will have an opportunity to register for the team or just check it out if your unsure. SEE BELOW FOR ORIGINAL CC CAMP EMAIL.

It is recommended, but not mandatory that you attend this camp to be on the CC team. Our first practice will be August 4th from 3:30-5:00pm at Koop Drive Park in Mandeville. We will have pre-season practices every Thursday in August.

PLEASE NOTE: August 4th is the deadline to register for the SCHEF LIONS CC team.  Registration forms are attached and we will have hard copies tomorrow for you.

Remember to drink lots of water tonight and in the morning to hydrate your body! We’re gonna have a blast!
